A few years ago we made the switch from bermuda grass to zoysia. What a difference! Like anything, there are pros and cons and I'll share them with you:
Pros:
-You don't have to cut the grass very often at all - with bermuda, I remember we were cutting once every week to a week and a half. With zoisa, we've only cut it twice so far this season. So like once a month to 5 weeks. Amazing!
-It also has a nice dark green color.
-It's very thick - your feet will sink into it!
Cons:
-You do not want to cut it too short - if you do and the area is in a spot where it gets full sun, it will turn brown and look icky for a while. We did that - again, this time in our backyard, there's a nice 10 ft patch of brown, it'll be ok, we just aren't going to mow it anymore. Here's more info on zoysia grass for you.
If you don't want to be cutting the grass so often, it is worth the switch. Let's see some of your lawn pics, we love that stuff!
